We study chemical protein synthesis, i.e., use of synthetic chemistry to make proteins beyond the limit of biology, which may help explore the question: Is there a limit of chemical synthesis?

Our focus is new chemistry for bottom-up synthetic biology (from proteins to proteomes and to cells), which is also practical for developing synthetic protein tools (biochemistry and biophysics) and products (medicine and biomaterial).
